Performance Assessment of Single Phase PWM Inverter
Inverters are key components in modern power systems, converting DC to AC power efficiently. The use of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) techniques in inverters is crucial for improving performance by enhancing power factor, reducing harmonic distortion, and increasing overall efficiency. This analysis focuses on Sinusoidal PWM (SPWM) techniques, specifically comparing unipolar and bipolar configurations through MATLAB-Simulink modeling. The analysis highlights the significance of reducing total harmonic distortion (THD), which is essential for achieving better power quality and operational efficiency in applications ranging from household appliances to industrial systems. By evaluating the performance of SPWM inverters with and without filters, this work provides insights into the optimal design and implementation of inverters for various load conditions. The findings underscore the importance of advanced PWM strategies in modern power electronics, paving the way for more reliable and efficient energy conversion solutions.
