Quantum theory of multiphoton scattering by electron in intense laser fields

Abstract By utilizing a quantum-field Volkov state, we develop a simple approach to analyze electron–photon scattering in intense laser fields. We use generalized phased Bessel functions to describe the scattering amplitude involving multiple photons. Explicit expression of the scattering rate is derived. The calculated angular-resolved radiation rates are in good agreement with the experimental data. The underlying physical mechanism is attributed to the variations in Bessel functions and their associated interference effect. This treatment provides a simple way to study electron–photon scattering in intense laser fields.
