Recent Developments in the Synthesis of Triazoles and Their Applications in Antibacterial Drug Discovery
Abstract Antibiotic abuse has become a global threat to public health concerns and has caused the emergence of powerful multidrug-resistant pathogens. These organisms have developed complex mechanisms to counter even the most advanced antibiotics of present times. Consequently, the search for novel potent antibacterial agents has gained immense traction. Triazole, a versatile nitrogen-containing heterocyclic moiety surpasses other pharmacophores in terms of chemotherapeutic and broad-spectrum antibacterial properties. Thus, this account highlights the recent development in synthetic methodologies for developing various small molecules comprising triazole functionalities showcasing potent antibacterial applications.
