Ultrasound Evaluation of the Small Intestine in the Neonate and Baby
ABSTRACT A neonate presenting with bilious vomiting is potentially a surgical emergency. The cause of bilious vomiting in these patients needs to be diagnosed as a matter of urgency as the aetiology may be due to duodenal atresia, jejunoileal atresia, jejunoileal obstruction, enteric duplication cyst, intussusception, Meckel's diverticulum, malrotation, or volvulus. The principal aim of this article is to describe the normal and pathologic appearances of the small intestine in the neonate and baby.
