The use of scientific evidence ina forensic setting has proven problematic forboth judges and attorneys because most ofthem are not technically trained. Much of thedifficulty encountered by courts when facingscientific evidence lies not in a lack of under-standing the underlying science but in the taskof choosing between competing scientific ex-planations tendered by individuals who seek towear the mantle of experts.
