Trauma disparities in burn injuries
• Older patients have increased hospitalizations, ventilator days, and wound infections. • Employment, satisfaction with life, body image, and social function were all lower among women. • Racial and ethnic minorities report lower satisfaction with appearance and social reintegration. • Patients of lower SES suffer more severe burns and higher overall mortality. • Uninsured and government-insured patients have higher mortality.
