GENERATIONAL DIFFERENCES IN RISK-TAKING BEHAVIOUR: A FOCUS ON GENERATION Z
Risk-taking is a topic of discussion across various aspects of human activity and is relevant to nearly all academic disciplines. Many scholars, academics, and authors have emphasized that risk is inherent in every aspect of life and have advocated for taking risks to achieve success, as reflected in the popular proverb, "no risk, no gain." However, studies show that the contemporary younger generation tends to be more risk-averse. Since some degree of risk is necessary for development, it is important to identify the differences in risk-taking behaviour among generations to guide them toward creativity, progress, and life success. This paper aims to conceptualise risk-taking behaviour, explore generational differences in risk propensity, and discuss the implications for policies and practices that address the characteristics of the contemporary generation and align educational frameworks with their nature.
