Improving the Security of Enterprise Storage Systems With Efficient Anomaly Detection
The security of enterprise storage systems is essential for maintaining data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Properly securing sensitive information, meeting the regulatory standards, preventing breaches, and ensuring uninterrupted business operations are vital to protecting organizations from financial loss, legal liabilities, reputational harm, and operational setbacks. As cyber threats continue to evolve, enterprises must prioritize strong and adaptive security measures to safeguard their storage systems. This paper highlights the role of anomaly detection in enhancing storage system security. By identifying unusual patterns or behaviors in data access and usage, anomaly detection can help detect potential threats such as insider misuse, unauthorized access, or ransomware attacks early on. This proactive approach strengthens the overall security posture, reducing the likelihood of breaches and minimizing damage. A brief overview of recent work and different open challenges related to anomaly detection in enterprise storage is presented in the paper.
