Framework and Coverage Analysis of a Sectorized Integrated Sensing and Communication Network
Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) offers an effective solution for improving spectrum efficiency while enhancing environmental awareness. In this paper, to avoid the wastage of time-frequency resources in conventional time-sharing ISAC scheme, by multiplexing the downlink communication signal to perform sensing, we propose a novel ISAC framework based on sectorized base stations. Focusing on the communication and sensing performance, we employ stochastic geometry to model the ISAC network and derive the closed-form coverage probability for both communication and sensing. Simulations verify the accuracy of the theoretical derivations, while also illustrate that under such framework, network parameters can be adjusted to achieve the desired sensing performance without compromising communication performance.
