Optimization of Interlaminar Shear Strength of the Jute/Kenaf/Glass with MWCNT using RSM
Hybrid composites have garnered growing interest among researchers because of their substantial capacity to overcome the constraints of nanofiber composites. Nevertheless, the impact of several distinct attributes on these hybrid composites is not well understood, as prior research has only concentrated on altering one factor individually. This work seeks to close this disparity by utilizing Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The study focuses on the modeling and optimization of three parameters for hybrid composites consisting of Jute/kenaf/glass and multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT). This is achieved by utilizing a three-level Central Composite Design (CCD) implemented through Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The chosen variables, informed by prior investigations, are fiber alignment, fiber order, and MWCNT proportion. An analysis is conducted to assess the collective impact of these factors on the parameters of Interlaminar Shear Stress (ILSS). The found optimized circumstances include a fiber orientation of 90 degrees, sequence 1, and a MWCNT concentration of 5 wt%. These parameters are projected to result in an optimal interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of 39 MPa. The correctness of the anticipated ideal conditions was established through experimental validation, which yielded low error levels. Furthermore, the findings indicated that the presence of MWCNT had a greater influence on interlaminar shear strength compared to the other factors.
