Integration of windmills into irrigation systems of agricultural territories: increasing the efficiency of water use and sustainability of agrarian ecosystems in the Saratov region

The paper considers the integration of wind generators into irrigation systems of agricultural areas as a way to improve energy and water efficiency. Particular attention is paid to the Saratov Oblast, which has favorable wind resources and a significant need for sustainable irrigation technologies. Calculations of capacity and annual power generation by wind turbines installed in different areas of the region, including Balakovo, Volsk and Engels districts, are presented. The economic feasibility of the project is shown, including payback periods and annual electricity savings. The results of the study demonstrate that the use of wind generators to power pumping stations can reduce water use costs and increase the sustainability of agro-ecosystems through the use of renewable energy sources. It was found that Balakovo district is the most promising in terms of wind potential and minimum payback period (2.9 years). The obtained conclusions emphasize the importance of integration of modern technologies in the agricultural sector to achieve environmental and economic sustainability.
