THE UNDISPUTED FACTOR: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE COVERAGE OF THE WAR ON GAZA BY FOX NEWS AND CNN

Stemming from two different ideological backgrounds, Fox News and CNN have disputed over numerous-internal and externaltopics that caused division in the American context.Hence, this research aims to discover whether this fact holds true when it comes to covering the (October 2023-present) war on Gaza, i.e., do they follow a similar, or a different, pattern?The research hypothesizes that the two channels may have sided with their in-group entirely.To fulfill its aim, the research analyzes the reports of the Israeli bombings of Al-Shifaa Hospital (on November 3rd, 2023 and March 18, 2024).Van Dijk's (1995) "Ideological Square" and Halliday's (1994) "Transitivity Analysis" are used in the analysis of the selected data.It is concluded that the two selected channels adhere to a somewhat similar stance and seem to mitigate or neglect the civilian and medical staff casualties that resulted from the bombings of Al-Shifaa Hospital..
