TECHNOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES OF COMPLEX SORBENT PRODUCTION AND APPLICATION FOR OIL-POLLUTED SOILS REMEDIATION IN THE ARCTIC REGION

This publication presents the results of studies on the use of a composite sorbent for the remediation of oil-contaminated soils in the Arctic Region. A complex sorbent based on sphagnum moss (Sphagnum L.) was used as a remediator, and the source of the microbiological component adapted to work in low-temperature conditions were microorganisms in activated sludge obtained at water treatment facilities in the Murmansk Region. It is shown that remediation using a complex sorbent at a temperature of 10 °C allows for a reduction in the residual content of oil products in contaminated soil from 100 g/kg to values below 1 g/kg in two months.
