Political secularisms and (ethno-)religious minorities
We respond to our reviewer's comments mainly by pointing out that some of things they wanted to see in our book are not as absent as they think nor as misrepresented, but some are indeed absent. While we readily acknowledge that we could not cover all the countries or the controversies or the level of detail or problem resolution that some readers may wish, this is inevitable. We thus think that our claim to offer a coherent and justified normative framework in which to think about problems stands.Specifically, we offer: a comparative analysis of political secularisms in relation to the governance of religious diversity and a normative framework for evaluating political secularisms with reference to the governance of religious diversity. There is, however, no strict derivation from concept to prescription to action as context and democratic processes are central to specific outcomes.
