Native species in the revitalization of degraded urban green areas in the municipality of Luminárias - MG

The transformation of a degraded area into an urban green space allows this area to fulfill its functions: environmental, scenic, and recreational, in addition to serving as a tool for environmental education. This extension project aims to create a proposal for a landscape revitalization project of an urban degraded area in the city of Luminárias through the use of native species from the region and to promote environmental education. A questionnaire was conducted among the city's population to identify the sites requiring intervention in urban green areas. Based on the responses, a degraded area was selected for the development of the landscape project. The landscape project is paired with a visual communication strategy through booklets and identifying tags for the native species used. These booklets and identification tags will contain detailed information about each plant, aiming to provide knowledge to the population about local biodiversity and the importance of conserving these species. The landscape project, with its environmental education proposal, will allow the population to learn about native species while enjoying the revitalized urban public green area.
