Design and Analysis of MIMO Antenna for Enhanced 5G Applications
This paper introduces the isolation enhancement technique for <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{1} \times \mathbf{2}$</tex> slot loaded MIMO antenna by using minimized ground plane. The proposed antenna is designed on a 1.5mm thick Taconic RF-35 substrate, operating at 4.8 GHz frequency). Inter-element spacing is <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{0.105}\boldsymbol{\lambda}_{\mathbf{0}}(\mathbf{6.5}\text{mm})$</tex>. For isolation enhancement here ground plane is minimized. Two stages (Design-1,2) of the proposed MIMO antenna are compared. After the simulation Design-2 MIMO antenna is isolated more than 30dB. Other parameters, Envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is 0.0001 and Diversity gain (DG) is closed to 10dB has been investigated in this paper. This MIMO antenna is convenient for 5G applications (5G NR band n79 4.4 GHz - 5 GHz frequency).
