Analysis of Effect of Fill Factor and Potential Induced Degradation on the Performance of Photovoltaic Module
Solar energy is the cleanest form of energy which can be used in both ways like solar thermal and conversion to electrical energy as in case of photovoltaic system. The basic unit of solar PV system is a solar cell. Studies state that 32 to 36 crystalline cells are connected in series to form a module supplying 12 volt. Thus modules are the building blocks of solar arrays. There are different types of factor affecting performance of solar module. Irradiance, temperature, tilt angle, dust, shading are some of the major factors. Apart from this there are several other factors also which affect the performance of solar cell. Fill factor is the performance indicator of solar cell. Thus in this paper we have studied how fill factor affects the performance of solar cell. Even potential degradation is also another area which has been considered for study.
