Preparation and Development of Polymer-Based Dielectric Composite: Influence of Agro-Waste Materials

Developing novel dielectric materials has always been an exciting area in material research, owing to their importance, especially in the electrical and electronic industries. Materials play an essential role in every walk of life. Extracting materials from nature, processing and understanding their characteristics, and using them proficiently are living skills. It focuses on utilizing polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as a matrix with varying different weight fractions of banana leaves (BL) and sugarcane bagasse (SCB) to improve capacitive energy storage and reduction of material weight. An attempt was made to choose a 10% tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) filler as secondary reinforcement, which was found to have a high dielectric constant and good compatibility with the existing fabrication procedure. Therefore, this work has focused on elucidating various aspects of the dielectric behavior and has been carried out on lightweight materials with high dielectric constants and low leakage currents for memory devices. The PTFE/6%(BL-SCB)/5% Ta2O5 has a high tensile strength of 46.78 MPa and improves electrical resistivity of 3.235 volts. Hence, this type of material has potential applications in producing dielectric devices like capacitors, actuators, and environmentally friendly solutions.
