Fine-Tuning an LLM Using QLORA and PEFT with RLHF Dataset

Through the use of a Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) dataset and a fine-tuning procedure that combines Quantized Low Rank Adaptation (QLoRA) and Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) methodologies, this study seeks to enhance the capabilities of a Large Language Model (LLM). Enhancing the LLM's capacity to produce conversational responses that are both contextually accurate and naturally human-like is the main goal. By using low-rank adaptation and quantization to lower memory and processing needs, QLoRA is used to efficiently fine-tune large-scale models. By linking reward signals to particular conversational engagements, this method helps the model learn more efficiently. Through the use of the RLHF dataset, these reward signals direct the reinforcement learning process, enabling the model to modify its replies in order to better conform to the norms and expectations of human interaction. In order to improve the model's comprehension of important conversational components including intent, tone, and context, PEFT introduces task-specific prompts after QLoRA fine-tuning. PEFT enhances its capacity to provide replies that are more in line with the dynamics of human conversation by focusing the model on these subtle elements. By offering human feedback in the form of reward signals, which form the basis of the reinforcement learning procedure, the RLHF dataset serves a vital role. There is more precise control over the fine-tuning process because these rewards are attributed both at the discussion level and at the level of individual questions. This focused strategy aids the model in enhancing the coherence, relevance, and fluency of its responses, resulting in interactions that are more organic and captivating. Perplexity, fluency, and human judgment are among the quantitative and qualitative indicators used to assess the efficacy of this fine-tuning technique. These metrics evaluate the model's capacity to produce responses in conversational contexts that are logical, contextually aware, and human-like. Abstract
