Real-Time Driver Monitoring System Using Computer Vision to Detect Drowsiness for Enhanced Traffic Safety
Driver fatigue and Distraction like inattentive driving are the most common causes for road accidents in driving of a four-wheeler. Every year, more people die in these kinds of accidents across the globe. The desired purpose is to monitor the motorist at once in real and reduce the collisions caused by fatigued drivers. Consequently, this will be an improvement in traffic safety. Vehicle technology that detects driver fatigue can help avoid accidents and save drivers' lives when they start to feel drowsy. In this research, driver drowsiness is detected via computer vision. Every driver of an automobile should abide by certain standards, regardless of their socioeconomic status. Being active while driving is the first, and remaining awake is the second. Current methods for identifying driver fatigue are either very expensive and limited to luxury vehicles or reasonably priced but lacking in functionality. A system that can reliably and accurately identify a driver's level of inadequate sleep is the primary goal while providing timely audio alerts is also very important. The other goals include creating a system that can identify when a driver is sleepy by periodically observing their eyes, particularly the retina. The system should notify the driver if they yawn a lot or close their eyes for a continuous period.
