Smart Water Management System for Housing Societies
The escalating global concern of water scarcity and water quality demands innovative solutions, especially in managing water resources within housing societies where challenges are compounded. The alarming trend of increasing water consumption in housing societies exacerbates water scarcity. Housing societies can significantly contribute to alleviating water scarcity and advancing sustainable water management by utilizing advanced technologies. The presence of dissolved impurities in water causes the deterioration of water quality. Especially during the monsoon, people often face challenges with muddy water and waterborne diseases. The Smart Water Management System proposed in this research is designed to address these pressing issues through effective monitoring and management of water using Internet of Things(IoT). A Total Dissolved Solids(TDS) sensor helps to identify whether there are materials dissolved in water and thus measures the water quality. In conj unction, an ultrasonic sensor detects the height of water in the tanks and automates the process of toggling the pumps. Utilizing advanced technologies, the system also integrates water analytics into the Blynk interface, providing users with real-time access via mobile phones. Furthermore, automatic mode and manual mode provide more control over pump operations. This system is implemented through the Arduino IDE along with the key components which include the NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller, TDS sensors, ultrasonic sensors, and a relay module for remote water flow control through the Blynk app, this automated approach ensures efficient water usage and facilitates proactive management. In conclusion, this paper presents a comprehensive framework for implementing innovative smart water management systems tailored to the specific challenge faced by housing societies.
