Power Quality Improvement for EV Charging Station Using Modified Bridgeless LUO Converter
This study presents an innovative control approach for managing power distribution in a hybrid grid-connected system that includes components like photovoltaic (PV) systems, AC systems, and electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The proposed architecture features a multi-input transformer-linked bidirectional DC-DC converter that facilitates optimized energy allocation among different sources, while also allowing excess energy to be sent back to the grid and enabling EV battery charging from the grid when necessary. A transformer-coupled boost half-bridge converter is utilized for capturing wind energy, whereas a bidirectional buck-boost (LUO) converter manages the photovoltaic energy and regulates the charging and discharging of the EV battery. AC loads receive power, and the grid is connected through a single-phase full-bridge bidirectional converter. In comparison to current hybrid grid systems, the proposed design decreases the number of components and stages of power conversion, thereby reducing energy losses and improving reliability and efficiency. Simulation outcomes conducted in MATLAB/Simulink under various operating conditions demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed control method for power flow management, and experimental evaluations confirm the system's design and control strategy across different operational modes.
