The Study of a Nonlinear Rapid Simulation of a Dual-Winding Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives

The dual-winding interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is suitable for high-power electric vehicle drives and applications requiring high power density. However, due to the effects of reluctance torque and cogging torque, the motor experiences significant magnetic saturation and nonlinearities, which affect the accuracy of the motor model and hinder research on motor torque ripple. While the finite element model of the motor provides high accuracy at the simulation level, its simulation efficiency is low. This paper investigates the development of a high-precision lookup table model for dual-winding motors, integrating finite element analysis (FEA) data with Simulink simulations to maximize simulation accuracy and reduce simulation time. The model's performance is validated using appropriate motor control methods for dual-winding motors. Simulation analysis compares the accuracy and fitting of the high-precision model in predicting motor torque ripple under various control strategies and operating conditions. Finally, the model's accuracy is validated on a Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation platform.
