Secure I-Voting using Proof of Authority Blockchain with Reputation Assigned Blockchain Clients
Electing representatives to the parliamentary system is the crux of democracy. The Election Commission of India is responsible for the conduct of elections in India. The commission introduced advanced technologies such as electronic voting machines and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail to make the voting process easier for people and ensure that each citizen exercised the right to vote. Blockchains are promising technologies that could ease the process and ensure integrity. Decentralization and immutability in blockchains complement the requirements for the fair conduct of an election. It is proposed to deploy the Proof-of-Authority consensus mechanism to enable fair conduct of the election. This uses the Aadhar biometric as the Proof-of-Authority to cast the vote. The secure transfer of data is also ensured. The proposed mechanism will improve trustworthiness and will decrease the cost of deployment with respect to the electoral process.
