Effect of Silane Treatment for Izod and Hardness Properties of Jute/Kenaf Glass Fiber Reinforced with Titanium Dioxide
This study investigates the mechanical properties of an innovative hybrid composite made from jute, kenaf, and glass fiber, with varying amounts of titanium dioxide (TiO2) particles. Nevertheless, the poor compatibility between epoxy and fiber presents a substantial obstacle to developing green materials. TiO2 particles are included in various weight percentages (0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%) to enhance the mechanical properties of the composite. To modify jute and kenaf fiber, chemical procedures (silane treatment) were implemented in this investigation. The effects of these chemical modifications and nanoparticles were investigated by analyzing the mechanical properties such as Izod and Hardness. Mechanical tests were conducted to assess the composite's performance, including the Izod test and hardness. The results were promising, showing an average Impact strength of 194.8 MPa and a hardness of 84.2. These findings suggest that the material suits technical applications requiring high strength, rigidity, and impact resistance. Integrating silane treatment and TiO2 particles creates a composite that balances functionality and environmental sustainability.
