Classification of North Eastern Plant Leaf Species Using Deep Learning
Recognising different kinds of plant leaves is crucial for environmental monitoring, agriculture, and forestry. There is a great diversity of plant species in India’s North-Eastern region, making it tedious and time-consuming to identify them by eye. A strategy based on deep learning is presented in this study for analysing colour photos from our collected leaf dataset and identifying plant species. We trained the models with our plant leaf dataset and classified into 22 classes using the modified VGG16, VGG16 and 2 CNN models. This task is accomplished by transfer learning using the modified VGG16 pre-trained classifier to achieve higher accuracy with 99.44% to its competitors.
