Study of a Single Source Based High Gain 25 Level Switched Capacitor Multilevel Inverter

This paper presents an innovative 25-level Switched Capacitor Multilevel Inverter (SCMLI) topology, comprising 18 switches and 7 capacitors, which generates a boosted output voltage using only a single DC power source. The proposed circuit employs a systematic capacitor charging sequence, achieving an output voltage boosting factor of 12. The Half-Height modulation technique is utilized to enable lowfrequency switching in the inverter design. Detailed analyses of voltage and current stresses are provided. Furthermore, the paper analyzes total harmonic distortion (THD), Weighted Total Harmonic Distortion (WTHD) and lower odd harmonic under different loading condition. A comparative evaluation highlights the superiority of the proposed SCMLI in terms of reduced component count, enhanced boosting factor, and improved cost efficiency when compared to existing designs. The functionality and advantages of the proposed system are analyzed through Matlab/Simulink model. The results confirm the effectiveness of the SCMLI under resistive and resistive-inductive loads, demonstrating balanced selfcapacitor voltage levels throughout operation.
