The Physical Therapist Professional Journey: Powered by Communities of Practice
Physical therapy education and professional development represent a dynamic continuum that extends beyond entry-level training. This evolution encompasses formal advanced training opportunities and/or self-directed learning, all while fostering professional identity through communities of practice and workplace socialization. The profession's commitment to adaptive learning enables physical therapists to meet changing health care demands, although further research is needed to understand role transitions and factors influencing advanced practice development and retention.
