Feilong Bridge, China: a super-long-span composite bridge with corrugated steel webs
Feilong Bridge in Guangxi, China, is a super-long-span continuous rigid-frame composite girder bridge with corrugated steel webs (CSWs). To achieve a main span of 185 m, many innovative structural designs and construction techniques incorporated in the bridge. A large-size 1800-type CSW, equipped with longitudinal and transverse stiffeners, was developed to ensure shear stability in the high girder. The CSWs are connected to the top concrete slab with long-hole Perfobond connectors and to the bottom concrete slab with partially encased joints, improving both construction convenience and durability. The main girder employs a self-supporting cantilever casting construction method, complemented by an intelligent transportation and installation system for the CSWs, significantly enhancing construction efficiency and intelligence. This paper describes the innovative technologies in the design and construction of this landmark bridge.
