Burmoniscus dasystylus Nunomura, 2003 (Crustacea, Isopoda, Oniscidea) is a junior synonym of Burmoniscus mauritiensis (Taiti & Ferrara, 1983)

To confirm the taxonomic status of Burmoniscus dasystylus Nunomura, 2003, we observed the holotype and conducted molecular analyses based on the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I gene sequences. The shapes of endopodite and exopodite of first pleopod of the holotype were consistent with the original images of Burmoniscus mauritiensis (Taiti and Ferrara, 1983). The phylogenetic tree supported a monophyletic group of B. dasystylus in Japan and B. mauritiensis in China. These results indicate that B. dasystylus is relegated to a junior synonym of B. mauritiensis . The haplotype network analysis suggested that B. dasystylus may have been spread rapidly in Japan.
