Environmental Friendliness of Seine Net Fishing Gear at Bulu Fishing Port Tuban East Java Indonesia
Abstract Payang and cantrang fishing gear are different types of trawl fishing gear from trawl fishing gear. Currently, the Indonesian government prohibits both types of trawl gear from operating, after previously banning trawl gear from operating. This study aims to assess the environmental friendliness of fur trawl gear. The result of this research is to find out whether the Fur drag trawl gear is an environmentally friendly type of fishing gear or not. The research method used is a descriptive method by comparing the sum of the scores of the Nine Environmental Friendliness Criteria of a fishing gear compared to the environmental friendliness standard by Mallawa. Based on the total score of the 9 criteria, payang fishing gear in Bulu Tuban is at a total score of 20, which means this fishing gear is a type of fishing gear that is not environmentally friendly. The type of fish caught using Bulu drag trawl gear is basic fish (demersal fish) with a composition consisting of the main catch, namely goat fish, red-eye fish, horse fish, tiger shrimp at 59.68%. While the by-catches of swallow, grouper, goby and white shrimp amounted to 12.73% and the second catch was discarded by 27.59%.
