Risk Reduction Strategy of Ship Scrapping Process Based on Fuzzy Approach

Abstract Ship scrapping involves dismantling ships to recover parts and materials for recycling and reuse. In Bangkalan, Madura, this process is conducted using traditional methods with minimal technological assistance. The scrapping process presents several hazardous risks, which can result in worker accidents. To assess these risks, this study uses HAZOP and FFMEA methods, identifying a total of 44 risks associated with ship scrapping. The analysis determines the most critical risks, with fire being the highest, followed by falls from heights and being struck by materials. A root cause analysis using the FTA method reveals that the main causes of accidents in this process are sparks from cutting flames, oil spills, and open disposal areas.
