Chaotic Behavior Assessment of Switched Reluctance Motor in Dynamic Conditions
This study examines the impact of chaos on the dynamic performance of a hysteresis current controlled Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). Firstly, the occurrence of chaos in the SRM for various parameter changes is analysed through computer simulations. The time series plot of dynamic characteristics of the motor such as speed, current and torque are observed. The behaviour of chaos with change in system's nonlinearity is analysed. Their behavior is characterized as periodic or chaotic using nonlinear techniques such as phase portraits, bifurcation diagram and Lyapunov exponents. A quantitative analysis of magnitude of oscillations of these characteristics are reported for different reference speeds as the operating behavior changes. Also the control of chaos in SRM is implemented. The observations obtained can be used to establish a relation between the performance and occurrence of chaos in SRM.
