Hybrid Encryption for Privacy Preservation in Medical Image Transmission
As the use of telemedicine and e-health rises, it has become essential to transfer medical images securely. Access to such sensitive images can result to serious privacy violations; transmission attacks are also destructive to data integrity. In this paper, we present a new encryption method that integrates the usage of chaotic maps and the advanced encryption standard (AES) in order to enhance the security of the signals during transmission. The algorithm adopted is secured against different types of cryptographic attacks such as brute force attack, chosen plaintext attack and differential attack. Performance analysis of the proposed method is done using entropy, correlation coefficient, key sensitivity and execution time and then compared with other encryption algorithms. The simulation results given in the paper clearly point to the effectiveness and security of the proposed algorithm that can be recommended for the implementation of medical image transmission in e-health applications.
