Dynamic Surface Sliding Mode Control Scheme for Load Frequency Control of Multi-Area Grids
This work introduces a dynamic surface sliding mode control technique for load frequency control (LFC) in interconnected power systems which is capable of handling both parametric and matched disturbances. The design involves a first-order low pass filter to the virtual control stage to eliminate the “explosion of terms” present in the backstepping and other SMC techniques. LFC under two cases (matched and unmatched disturbances) are considered to illustrate the superior performance of the proposed DSMC and the required asymptotic stability condition is proven based on the Lyapunov stability criteria.
