Optimized Switched Inductor-Capacitor Architecture for High Voltage DC-DC Conversion
To develop a sustainable environment, power generation plans are shifting towards renewable energy sources (RES). However, voltage level mismatch makes it difficult to integrate these sources into loads directly. Traditionally, a boost converter is used to integrate, Yet the voltage gain is not very high. The switched inductor and switched capacitor technologies are introduced to improve the voltage gain of the traditional boost converter. So, in this paper, an optimized switched inductor-capacitor architecture for a high-voltage DC-DC (SICHV) converter is proposed. The functioning of the SICHV converter is elucidated by employing equivalent circuit models and mathematical expressions. To demonstrate the benefits of the suggested SICHV converter, a comparison is made, which demonstrates that the SICHV converter uses a single switch to generate a large voltage gain with less voltage stress across it. To confirm the theoretical assertions, a simulation study is carried out with components designed for specifications of output voltage of 400 V and power of 500 W.
