Enhancing Mining Operations: A Novel Telematic Control Unit with Integrated Driver Management and Predictive Maintenance
Handling a mine site is a difficult task with heavy duty vehicles and industrial equipment, all operating at the same time. In the mining industry, the company fitted Telematic Control Unit (TCU) is not used effectively as in other vehicles. This is where TCU can be a savior. The word “Telematic” describes the technology which amalgamates telecommunications and informatics. It is an on-board device and a vital component designed to enhance operational efficiency and safety present in all vehicles. It integrates telematic technologies such as sensors to collect and transmit information about the vehicle's real time status such as temperature, fuel consumption. Along with the TCU, a new system that could give high security is crafted as mining accidents can occur from a variety of causes including leakage of poisonous gasses such as HS, methane, dust explosions which is known as Driver Management System (DMS). This system helps to monitor the driver's activities while driving the vehicle. This system is adaptable to all the heavy vehicles used in coal mines. It enables the fleet managers and operators to have full visibility of the vehicle's condition to improve their optimization. On the whole, this system employs predictive maintenance capabilities, eco-friendly approaches to achieve great competence among other devices.
