New Era from Expiration to Exploitation: The Rise of Broken Link Hijacking in Modern Cyber Security and Its Countermeasures

Broken Link Hijacking (BLH) is a new and genuinely significant cyber security threat that has exploited expired or abandoned links for like phishing or malware distribution among the real and authentic users of website or organization. As we all knows the digital environment is expanding in very fast and expired links will continue to grow and compound into a vulnerability for organizations and individuals like us. The paper considers the role of Broken Link Hijacking in contemporary cyber security by specifically looking at what attackers do and what types of the consequence this broken link hijacking has on the larger digital environment. Study with current trends are projected to see how real-world attacks can turn out to be dangerous when someone hijacked a expired or deleted social media account and what is the effectiveness of the present countermeasures against this sophisticated cyber attack. The Paper also emphasis on some proactive strategies in the fight against this emerging threat, like robust link and account management and continuous monitoring. This paper looks to contribute to the development of stronger defenses in an ever-evolving cyber security field by realizing the dynamics of Broken Link Hijacking.
