A Novel Six-Switch Three-Output DC-DC Converter with Isolated Buck Characteristics and its Derivation from a Novel Four-Switch Two-Output Non-Isolated DC-DC Converter with Modified Boost and Complimentary Buck Operation

In this paper, a novel isolated DC-DC converter with six switches and three output ports is presented. The isolated output port observes the characteristics of an isolated buck converter in the Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) whilst the two non-isolated output ports observe modified boost and complimentary buck characteristics respectively. The isolated topology is derived from the cascaded connection of a novel four-switch non-isolated DC-DC converter possessing the above-mentioned modified boost and complimentary buck outputs at the input side and a flyback branch at the output side. CCM steady-state analysis of the converters is presented and MATLAB® SIMULINK simulation platform is used to simulate the converters to validate the analyses. Closed-loop current controller dynamics are investigated and the efficacy of the designed controller is validated against step changes in load. In summary, a novel four-switch two-output port non-isolated DC-DC converter is presented and it is used to derive a novel six-switch isolated buck converter retaining the characteristics of the said non-isolated output ports as well.
