Compensation Tuning for Efficiency Maximization in LCC/LCC Compensated Inductive Power Transfer Based Charging Systems
Compensation is pivotal in boosting power transfer and efficiency in an inductive power charging (IPC) system. The LCC/LCC configuration is widely utilized in the literature due to its resilience to loads and alignment variations. Under resonant conditions, the system performance hinges on the selection of compensation parameters. In this connection, this work presents a methodology to choose the optimal compensation elements to enhance the efficiency of the LCC/LCC compensated IPC system for different types of loads. The compensation factors are defined and varied at different loading conditions to validate the behaviour of the system with the proposed design, hence the efficiency and power transfer. The work also derives the conditions for optimal compensation factors for maximizing efficiency. The variation in the efficiency while fixing the optimal compensation elements for the load changes is analyzed to determine the best fit for a considered application. These optimal values are then analyzed for different load conditions, demonstrating that the efficiency is maximized and aligns with desired and analytically derived values.
