Fall Alert ESP: Enhancing Elderly Safety with ESP8266 Technology
This paper introducing an innovative Elderly Fall Detection System using customised ATMega328 and ESP8266 boards interfaced with GPS, Pulse sensor, Accelerometer and Blynk application. This paper provides a cost-effective solution, ensuring accurately real-time monitoring for the problem of fall detection. The proposed system aims to address the problem of elderly population by using advanced technology of interfacing sensors and providing a user-friendly platform. The system first comprises of customising a ESP8266 board so as to make it compatible for attaching three analog sensors by providing features of both ESP8266 and ATMEGA328. This paper consists of the usage of multiple sensors to enhance the accuracy and reliability in detecting falls and minimizing false alarms. The central processing units are customised ESP8266 and ATMega328 microprocessor that gathers data in real time from the accelerometer and pulse sensor. The accelerometer records motion patterns while the pulse sensor tracks the wearer's vital signs, enabling the detection of abrupt changes that could indicate a fall. In the event of an emergency, the GPS module's location data will help emergency personnel find the user. The Blynk mobile app is used by the system to facilitate easy user engagement and notifications. In the case of a fall, customers can receive instant warnings through the app, enabling prompt assistance. The system has achieved accuracy of greater than 80% (with 30 sample size) respectively in all the measuring events like falling, standing, sitting, high pulse rate and location, and have achieved accuracy greater than 90% in overall whole system.
