Apple Leaf Disease Prediction Using CNN

In modern apple orchard management, prompt and precise disease identification has become crucial for maintaining crop yields and quality. Traditional disease detection methods depend on expert evaluation and visual inspection, which can be subjective and time-consuming. This research presents a novel approach utilizing Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), a deep learning model well-known for its ability to classify images. The methodology involves collecting a wide range of apple leaf images, capturing different stages and types of diseases. These images undergo preprocessing to standardize quality before being used to train a CNN model capable of differentiating between healthy and diseased leaves. The process incorporates data augmentation, model selection, and hyperparameter optimization to enhance performance.Researchers also examine the impact of environmental factors and image quality on model accuracy, emphasizing the need to balance high precision with real-world applicability in agricultural settings. The resulting CNN model demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving 99% accuracy on the test dataset, showcasing its ability to classify apple leaf diseases with minimal errors. This method not only improves the speed and accuracy of disease detection but also provides a scalable solution for monitoring crops on a large scale. The results highlight the potential of CNNs to transform disease management in apple farming, offering an efficient tool for early detection and timely intervention. Future studies will focus on expanding the dataset to encompass a broader range of diseases and environmental variables, as well as advancing the development of more robust and accurate CNN models for enhanced disease detection and prediction.
