Design and Development of a Web-based Marketplace for Aquatic Products in the Municipality of Magallanes, Agusan del Norte
This study presents the design and development of a web-based marketplace for aquatic products in the Municipality of Magallanes, Agusan del Norte. Specifically, the system aims to provide fishpond owners with a direct means to market and sell their products at their desired prices instead of relying on the prices offered by the middlemen. The secure software design life cycle guided the system development integrating security practices at every stage of the development, covering planning, analysis, design, development, testing and implementation to maintain the integrity of the transaction and addressing potential vulnerability. During the planning, developers gathered information from the aquatic farmers, buyers and personnel of the agricultural office, while the analysis phase identified the processes, constraints, and limitations of the platform. As part of the design phase; data flow diagram, system architecture, and use-case diagram were created. The hypertext Processor (PHP), JavaScript and Bootrap5 were used along with the Laravel web application framework and MySQL for database management. The aquatic farmers, buyers and the personnel of the office of the municipal agriculture tested and evaluated the system before implementation using the ISO/IEC 25010 assessment tool, and the platform was rated as highly acceptable with a mean score of 4.68 for its user-friendly interface, secure log-in and dashboard management. For future studies, the developers may consider adding the delivery and tracking functionalities to enhance the system's efficiency and effectiveness in facilitating the transaction.
