A Modified Dual Switch High Gain Boost Converter with Control Liberty for PV Application

This study introduces a dual-switch non-isolated boost converter (DSNIBC) which increases the voltage gain without operating non-isolated boost converter (NIBC) at high-duty ratios by adding a diode-switch pair and switched Inductor to NIBC. The insertion of an additional switch also rise the Liberty of Control (LoC) for both inductor current and output voltage simultaneously using control variables <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$d_{1}$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$d_{2}$</tex>, in comparison to NIBC. A capacitor is also connected across the load to reduce the ripples. The proposed converter with continuous input current and low ripple is well-suited for renewable energy applications due to its ability to respond quickly to changes in input conditions. The characteristics of DSNIBC are supported by simulations and developed by mathematical derivations. For example, according to the simulation results, voltage gains rise from 5.67 to 15 when the duty ratio of the additional switch in DSNIBC goes from 0 to 0.1.
