Optimized Dual Phase Shift Control for Dual Active Bridge DC-DC Converter
The Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter is widely recognized for its applicability in high-power applications, offering features such as high-power density, inherent soft switching, modularity, galvanic isolation, bi-directional power flow, and high-frequency operation. Typically, the DAB converter is controlled using the traditional Single-Phase Shift (SPS) method. However, this control method can lead to a peak inductor current when there is a voltage disparity across the inductor, negatively impacting the performance of the converter. To address this issue, an optimized Dual Phase Shift (DPS) control technique has been introduced. This optimized DPS control not only minimizes the peak inductor current required to achieve the desired power but also reduces the RMS current flowing through the magnetic components, thereby enhancing the overall performance of the converter.
