Advanced Control and Modeling for Enhanced BLDC Motor Efficiency and Performance

This paper presents an enhanced sensorless control strategy for Brushless DC Motors for low-powered electric vehicles, incorporating iron loss modeling. It addresses critical issues such as torque ripple and drive inefficiency through a Discrete Terminal Sliding Mode Control-based sensorless Field-Oriented Control (FOC), and comparison with traditional FOC-based control. By integrating robust control mechanisms and reducing iron losses, the strategy significantly improves motor performance. Comprehensive simulation results validate the efficacy of the presented methods, demonstrating robust and accurate performance under various load conditions. The system accurately tracks reference speeds, maintains stability amidst fluctuating loads and speeds, and accounts for iron losses. The results found satisfactory torque ripple reduction in the discrete TSMC approach.
