Switched Capacitor-Based Buck/Boost DC-DC Converter for Low Power Application with Less Number of Switch Count
This paper discusses the switched capacitor converters (SCC) leveraging the mathematical series to opti-mize voltage conversion efficiency and reduce the component count to generate buck/boost voltage ratios. The series offers a unique way to achieve nonstandard voltage ratios (VR). In this work, buck/boost conversion is possible using fewer semiconductor devices for various chip parts to act as power sources. This topology is analyzed theoretically, simulated and validated using an experiment prototype of its performance under various operating conditions using PSIM. Different fractions like 1/2, 1/3, 2/5, 3/5, 2, 3, etc.,(Total 12 VR) are generated using mathematical sequences.
