Dual Configured SEIG-Based WES Using Modified SVM Technique for Three Level Back to Back Converter

This paper presents a comparative analysis of a Selfexcited induction generator (SEIG) based wind energy systems (WES)-fed three-level back-to-back frequency converter (3LBBFC) and two-level back-to-back frequency converter (2LBBFC). The indirect vector control (IVC) technique with modified space vector modulation technique (MSVMT) is proposed to control load-side connected frequency converter (LSCFC) and the IVC technique with sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) technique is used to control machine-side connected frequency converter (MSCFC). IVC with MSCFC is used to control torque ripples, active power, and reactive power of the generator, and IVC with MSVMT is used to control DClink voltage, active power, and reactive power of the load or grid. Proposed techniques are implemented in Matlab/simpower system and real-time simulator (RTS) environments respectively.
