Implementation of Microgrid System and Its Operation Under Line to Ground Fault Condition in Grid Voltage
Microgrid is a collection of distributed energy sources such as solar PV, wind energy, fuel cells as well as energy storage systems. It usually runs synchronously with the grid, but it can be disconnected from the grid to operate in island mode. One of the major challenges under such conditions is the implementation of the transition from Islanded/Standalone to Grid connected mode of operation and vice versa, under Line to Ground fault/post-fault conditions. This study introduces a decentralized control structure for a Microgrid that incorporates a Battery and a PV Source. The proposed control architecture implements a smooth transition from Islanded/Standalone to Grid Connected mode and vice versa under normal and unbalance (Line to Ground fault) Grid Voltage condition. The performance of the proposed control strategy is validated by experimental results in a Hardware in Loop (HIL) System.
