Optimized Voltage Harmonic Injection Strategies to Mitigate Speed Fluctuations in PMSM EV Drives

The growing demand for efficient and reliable electric vehicles therefore requires minimal speed and torque variation, which provides them with precise, smoother control and an enhanced user experience. Therefore, this paper presents the enhanced SSA-optimized voltage harmonic injection strategies to mitigate speed fluctuations in Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) based EV drives. Furthermore, comprehensive analyses, speed harmonic extraction, and system performance assessments for validation are provided under various operation conditions. This study enhanced the optimized amplitude and phase-based control strategy to enhance the EV user experience, and lifespan of the motor. The optimized control is tested with and without speed harmonic suppression which improves user experience. The outcome validates that the optimal voltage harmonic method effectively reduces speed harmonics and speed ripple in an IPMSM-based EV drive system.
